JON OLIVA'S PAIN have just been confirmed for next year's edition of the Dokk'em Open Air festival, set to take place June 29-30, 2012 at Spriens Raard in Dokkum, Netherlands.

JON OLIVA'S PAIN, the Florida-based band led by SAVATAGE mastermind Jon Oliva, will play SAVATAGE's classic 1987 album, "Hall Of The Mountain King", in its entirety at Dokk'em Open Air
 

The "Always…"-era (1992) lineup of the Dutch rock outfit THE GATHERING has announced plans to make several festival appearances next summer following its 20th-anniversary celebration concert in April. The first confirmed festival performance will take place at  Dokk'em Open Air festival.
 

Raard is a mound in the village Dongeradeel in one of the most beautiful areas of the province of Friesland.

Chicago black metal assassins NACHTMYSTIUM will play a very special show at VOIVOD-curated Au-delà du Réel event at Holland's Roadburn festival on Friday, April 13, 2012 at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. For the first and only time, the band will perform its landmark album "Instinct: Decay" in its entirety.

In other news, WITCH will play a one-off show at Au-delà du Réel event at Roadburn 2012 on April 13. Founded in 2006, WITCH churns out an punk-inspired style of psychedelic stoner doom that features Dave Sweetapple (SWEET APPLE), Graham Clise (ANNIHILATION TIME, LECHEROUS GAZE), Kyle Thomas (FEATHERS), and marks the return of J Mascis to drums. Also newly added to the billing are VALIENT THORR on Friday, April 13 and "a heavy jam" by J Mascis (guitar; WITCH, DINOSAUR JR.), Mario Rubalcaba (drums; EARTHLESS), Mike Eginton (bass; EARTHLESS) and Graham Clise (guitar; WITCH, LECHEROUS GAZE) on Saturday, April 14. This will be one epic jam session for fans of shredding psychedelia.

Legendary doom pioneers THE OBSESSED will reunite for an appearance at next year's edition of the Roadburn festival, set to take place from Thursday, April 12 to Sunday, April 15 (the traditional Afterburner) at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. The band's lineup for the concert will be Scott "Wino" Weinrich on guitar/vocals, Greg Rogers (GOATSNAKE, SONIC MEDUSA) on drums and Guy Pinhas (ACID KING, GOATSNAKE, BEAVER) on bass.

Roadburn festival organizers have announced that West Coast stoner metal legends SLEEP have been confirmed as the headliners at of next year's event. Also newly added to the festival's billing is OM, the band formed in 2003 by the rhythm section of SLEEP.

d.USK, the final embodiment of diSEMBOWELMENT — the Australian death/doom metal band from Melbourne that was formed in 1989 — has been confirmed for next year's edition of the Roadburn festival, set to take place from Thursday, April 12 to Sunday, April 15 (the traditional Afterburner) at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland. d.USK will play an exclusive set of diSEMBOWELMENT's legendary funeral doom opus "Transcendence Into The Peripheral".

Roadburn has announced the curator for the 17th edition of the festival: VOIVOD. After the band's widely acclaimed and artistically inspiring performances at the 2011 festival, VOIVOD has agreed to curate our festival on Friday, April 13, 2012.

As curator, VOIVOD will personally select the bands that will play during their special event at Roadburn and perform a special headline show.

Commented the organizers: "We had a revelation this year: namely, that VOIVOD and Roadburn are not only kindred spirits musically and artistically, but also on the same wavelength in other ways, too. VOIVOD personifies the laidback Roadburn vibe. Respected by fans and bands that span the festival's sonic spectrum, VOIVOD is the ideal pick as Roadburn's fifth curator. The band will carry on a tradition that began in 2008 with David Tibet, followed by NEUROSIS in 2009, TRIPTYKON's Tom Gabriel Warrior in 2010 and SUNN 0))) aka Greg Anderson and Stephen O'Malley at this year's festival. After VOIVOD agreed to curate the Friday, we could not resist asking them to stay for a second show. It's on!"

VOIVOD will perform on Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Roadburn will run for four days — from Thursday, April 12 to Sunday, April 15, 2012 (the traditional Afterburner event) — at the 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland.

Tickets for Roadburn 2012 will go on sale Saturday, November 26, 10:00 Central European Time. There will be a two-ticket limit (per order) for three-day and four-day passes and Afterburner tickets — the same goes for the Campsite Tickets.
