WITHIN TEMPTATION: New DVD Title, Release Date
Announced - Jun.
20, 2008 |
|
Earlier this week,
WITHIN TEMPTATION dazzled tens of thousands of rock
fans with an eye-popping main-stage performance at the
UK's Download festival. Renowned
for its spectacular live shows, the band's fans
everywhere will now have the chance to watch one of the
group's most astounding dates yet. On September 22,
WITHIN TEMPTATION will release a
brand new double-DVD, titled "Black
Symphony".
Their most ambitious staging to date,
Black Symphony was a unique concert at Rotterdam's
Ahoy Arena on February 7, 2008. Sold out months in
advance, the show featured WITHIN
TEMPTATION performing to 10,000 fans with the
60-piece Metropole Orchestra and
a 20-voice classical choir, as well as on-stage stilt
performers, costume changes, and an array of stunning
pyrotechnic and lighting effects. The colossal
production extended to Europe's largest video screen (a
massive 400 sqm), reaching across the entire width of
the stage, and 14 full HD cameras. Special guests on the
night included Keith Caputo (LIFE
OF AGONY), Anneke van Giersbergen
(ex-THE GATHERING), and
George Oosthoek (ORPHANAGE).
In addition to the Rotterdam concert, a plethora of
bonus content and extensive behind the scenes footage
will be included. Although full details will be made
available at a later date, it is likely to feature the
band's 2007 year-end show at the Beursgebouw in
Eindhoven, of which one highlight was an exclusive
acoustic set. "Black Symphony"
will also be available as a double-CD and a special
Blu-Ray disc.
WITHIN TEMPTATION is currently
taking over the European festivals, with slots at the
Electric Weekend (Spain),
Pukkelpop (Belgium),
Beatstad (Netherlands), and
Rock En France (France) just a
fraction of its plans. The band is looking forward to
supporting the legendary IRON MAIDEN
in Holland and London next month. For the first time
ever, WITHIN TEMPTATION will also
take to the stage in Israel, the Ukraine, and Greece
this year, before closing 2008 with some exclusive
seated shows in The Netherlands and Belgium. |

GRAVE ROBBER „Be Afraid“, release: 11.07.2008 - Jun. 20, 2008 |
|
If you like your gothic/shock rock spiked
with a little arsenic and a healthy dose of dark humor,
check out “Be Afraid”! Band members Dr. Cadaver,
Nameless, and Maggot offer you chainsaw guitars,
super-tight arrangements, and blatant morbidity wrapped
around insanely catchy choruses. Wretched provides elite
vocal skills in a mesmerizing Danzig/Rob Halford sort of
way! Their theatrical stage show, zombie-like costumes
(in GWAR-like fashion!), let fans know this is not your
everyday band. |

Martin Eric
Ain & Franco Sesa Statement in regard of Celtic Frost
- Jun.
20, 2008 |
|
We are deeply sorry about the
cancellation of the summer festivals and the Giger
Museum Anniversary Show this year. We regret the
adversity that this caused fans and promoters alike.
Tom Gabriel Fischer has left the Band, but Celtic Frost
is still alive, albeit in a coma of Sorts. Franco and I
are not going to continue recording or touring as Celtic
Frost. This would be preposterous without one of its
foundingmembers, the original voice and its defining
guitarist. But we are not going to officially disband
Celtic Frost.
We hope that there might be a possibility of talking
things over and overcoming the differences that caused
this schism. Most certainly this will not happen now,
but maybe sometime in the future. After all, this is not
the first time in the history of this band that things
have gone wrong.
In the meantime Franco and I will continue to create
music of our own. Under what name or with whom else
shall remain open for now. For the time being, we accept
Tom's decision as being better for all of us and we
would like to wish all the best for him and his future
projects.
A thank you is due to all fans & friends for their
support in these difficult times. We hope that at least
the work of these past years was as pleasurable to you
as it was to us.
With regret and confidence

KYPCK - join Century Media Records! - Jun. 12, 2008 |
|
KYPCK (or 'Kursk' in the western alphabet) is a
Finnish doomsday metal band singing in Russian.
KYPCK's crew features vocalist E. Seppänen,
guitarist S. S. Lopakka (formerly Sentenced), bassist J.
T. Ylä-Rautio and drummer K. H. M. Hiilesmaa who is also
known as the producer of HIM, Lordi, Sentenced,
Moonspell, Apocalyptica and many others. It was only
logical that Hiilesmaa was also in charge of KYPCK's
heavy and (in its original sense) grinding production.
E. Seppänen has lived in Russia for 2,5 years, studied
in St. Petersburg and worked at the embassy in Moscow.
He recently got his degree from Oxford, and as a part
time job teaches Russian in Tampere, Finland. Hence, he
is more than legitimate to sing in Russian.
The band's debut downfall, the full-length album
entitled "Cherno", was completed during 2007 and
originally released through the Finnish label UHO
Production in March 2008. Despite the album's crushing,
doomy nature and Russian lyrics, it went straight to #11
in the Finnish charts. "Cherno" will finally be out in
the Benelux via Century Media Records on Friday, July
18, 2008.
You can
check out the video-clip for "1917"

FORCEFEED - Links deal with Rusty Cage Records - Jun.
12, 2008 |
Once again we are very
excited to announce the expansion of the Rusty Cage
family with another great Dutch metal band:
FORCEFEED
Since their start in September 2002 FORCEFEED
never stopped moving forward. After releasing one EP and
two CD's this five piece metal clan just finished making
their latest CD with producer Jochem Jacobs (who don't
need an introduction anymore) and inked a deal with
Rusty Cage Records to release it.
In 2006 the band took off to the US for a 3 week tour.
In combination with the glut of shows they played over
the years, which includes supports for bands like
Bloodsimple and American Head Charge, this allowed
Forcefeed to develop a blistering live-act. You can go
to the
RCR giglist to find the upcoming gigs where they
introduce their brand new bassplayer.
Within a couple of weeks you can check out their new
section at the RCR site, but in the meantime you can
listen to some new songs at the FORCEFEED
Myspace page.

DANGER EP Release "First Touch " Pushed Back To June
27 - Jun. 12, 2008 |
|
The Swedish glam / hard rock band DANGER has
just announced that the release date of their new
promotional EP " First Touch " has to be pushed
back to June 27 due to technical problems in the
studio. " We were working day and night to have the
mixing and mastering proces of the songs done, before
the Sweden Rock Festival would start. As you all know,
we always hand out free copies to the audience there and
that was also the plan for this year.
Our time-schedule was very tight to make it and when the
equipment failed on us, there was nothing more for us to
do than to accept it and to wait till all equipment has
been fixed, so we can move on ", Rob Paris said. He
continues " But at the end, it's even better to do it
this way. We have more time now to give the fans the
best job possible. The rough versions of the songs sound
already killer, it's the best we have recorded so far.
It's the most exciting period in the band's career, we
cannot wait to let the world hear the songs! "
While the fans are waiting for the new material, more
cool stuff will be uploaded on the website
www.danger.se, to make the wait easier.
At Friday June 27th, “ First Touch “ will be officially
launched with a big MySpace online release party at
www.myspace.com/bestdanger where all EP songs will
be streaming from 20.00 till 24.00 CET ! |

the best Masters of Reality record ever.
As Chris Goss quotes:
" I sincerely regret if the tours' delay is causing any
inconvenience and disappointment. I can only say that I

the album. I believe it is our best work to date. We
will bring this on large and correctly; both in album

songs & a re-recorded version of "As Hope Dies",
ONHEIL's 2007 single and videoclip.
According to singer/guitarist Amok: "The new material
will probably surprise a lot of people as it's quite

have mixed this with more melodies and slower parts.
Also the fact that we now have 2 lead vocalists and 3
guitarists gives us more possibilities to create

INTO ETERNITY - reveals the details surrounding their
first conceptual effort - Apr. 27, 2008 |
|
For
proof that from great suffering comes great art, look no
further than INTO ETERNITY founding guitarist/principal
songwriter Tim Roth. Much as he drew inspiration from
his mother's passing when writing the band's critically
acclaimed 2006 release, "The Scattering Of Ashes", Roth
again found the strength and resilience to turn
negatives into positives on the "extreme progressive
metal" band's forthcoming release, "The Incurable
Tragedy".
INTO
ETERNITY's first concept album, "The Incurable
Tragedy" was inspired by the deaths of Roth's two best
friends, brothers who succumbed to cancer within two
months of one another. To make matters worse, when the
band began demoing new material shortly after the
completion of the Scattering tour - a star-making year
of shows that saw the band perform alongside such
internationally renowned acts as Dream Theater, Lamb of
God, Megadeth, Opeth, Arch Enemy, The Haunted and Dark
Tranquillity - Roth's father was diagnosed with cancer
as well. Showing no mercy, the disease claimed his life
last year, just 10 days before Christmas.
Roth channeled his
emotions into a moving and riveting album, due out on
Century Media Records this summer. This spring, however,
the band will take a break from the studio to tour
throughout North America with like-minded progressive
metal shredders Symphony X. That trek will be followed
by the band's first tour of Japan, where they will
perform alongside At The Gates, The Dillinger Escape
Plan, Mayhem and Pig Destroyer at the prestigious
"Extreme The Dojo" festivals.
To tide fans over until the release of "The Incurable
Tragedy", the band has posted on their MySpace
(http://www.myspace.com/officialintoeternity) an
unmastered rough mix of a brand new song, "Diagnosis
Terminal", which they will perform live at each of their
spring concerts (see below for dates). The track is
classic INTO ETERNITY, featuring a heavy groove,
stop-on-a-dime time changes, reflective lyrics, a
memorable chorus, a string-shredding solo, and vocals
that range from guttural growls to soaring harmonies.

AYREON vs. AVANTASIA! - Apr. 16, 2008 |
On January 25, 2008 the rock
operas of Arjen Lucassen and Tobias Sammet, respectively
Ayreon’s 01011001 and Avantasia’s The Scarecrow, were
released simultaneously. The music press, always eager for a
story, called this event the ‘Clash of the Titans’,
gleefully portraying the two musicians as bitter rivals and
urging each to comment on the other in countless interviews.
There was much speculation about which album would be more
successful, but upon release both albums immediately charted
in several countries around the world. When asked about the
so-called rivalry, Arjen explains: “I’d not yet even heard
Tobias’s album, but when I found out he’d managed to get my
all-time favourite artist Alice Cooper to guest on The
Scarecrow, I totally freaked out and sent a hate-mail to
Tobias’s MySpace. Fortunately, he never received it”.
Coincidentally however, Tobias, who was fed up with having
to talk about Arjen in interviews, grudgingly decided it was
time to get acquainted. He emailed Arjen, and in the stream
of email and insults that followed “it turned out that
Tobias hated me just as much for having got Bruce Dickinson
to guest on an Ayreon album, haha!” Arjen explains. Despite
their mutual hatred, the two musicians eventually hatched a
plan to put some fuel on the fire created by the press by
doing the unthinkable: recording a song together. The result
is a mind-blowing over-the-top cover version of Elected, the
original version of which was a big hit for Alice Cooper
back in 1973.
The song Elected will be featured on a 4-track EP released
by Inside Out Music/SPV (release dates: 25 April for Germany/Austria/Switzerland;
28 April for Europe). The 3 other tracks featured on the EP
are an acoustic live radio session of the 01011001 track
E=MC2 with Marjan Welman on vocals, Ride the Comet taken
from the album 01011001, and a touching piano-only version
of the Human Equation track Day Six: Childhood featuring
Joost van den Broek and Marjan Welman.

NEVERMORE - Jeff Loomis announces solo project;
enters the studio! - Apr. 16, 2008 |
One of metal's most talented
shredders, Jeff Loomis, of NEVERMORE fame will
further prove his undeniable skills with his first solo
project, which is set for a fall release. The ambitious
offering is an all instrumental effort and is destined to
shed some much deserved spotlight on the genre's most
notable, yet unsung, guitar player.
Loomis states:
"Hi everyone. I just wanted to give you all an update on the
solo project.
I entered Robert Lang studios on March 22nd with producer
Neil Kernon (NEVERMORE) and drummer Mark Arrington.
Mark completed the drums for 10 tracks in about three and a
half days. He did some incredible drum work that I know will
bring this record to a higher level than I expected. Mark
and I worked before back in 1993-94 when he played half the
songs on our debut CD. Being able to do this entire
recording with Neil is really amazing as well. We've done
some great work in the past, but being able to focus on an
entire instrumental record is going to be great. Rhythm
guitars will be tracked next. I'll keep everyone informed on
the progress as we track for the next month."
Furthermore, Jeff can also be heard on the forthcoming solo
album "Praises To The War Machine" by NEVERMORE-vocalist
Warrel Dane, which will be released via Century Media this
month. Loomis is doing a guest solo on the song "Messenger",
which can currently be streamed on
http://www.myspace.com/warreldane !
Frequent updates on the recording process of his first solo
album as well as more info on Jeff Loomis can be found on
his official MySpace site

THE HAUNTED - finish pre-production for new album,
post video online! - Apr. 16, 2008 |
Swedish metal innovators THE HAUNTED
are back on the map with some good news, as they have just
finished the pre-production for their highly anticipated new,
still untitled, album. The band is soon to enter PUK studio
in Denmark to start working with producer Tue Madsen (Heaven
Shall Burn, Dark Tranquillity, Moonspell, etc), who has
already co-operated with THE HAUNTED on their two
previous albums "rEVOLVEr" and "The Dead Eye".
Jonas Björler (Bass) reports:
"Right now we're rehearsing like madmen. This
is the final week before we enter the PUK studio in Denmark.
Right now we have like 20+ songs, so we have a lot of
material to choose from; I think we aim at putting 11 or 12
on the CD. This time around we worked 6 months on the songs,
and I think that really paid off - none of the songs sound
alike, and the material sounds really heavy and groovy"
As a special preview, THE HAUNTED have now posted a
new video online which shows them during pre-production
activities for the upcoming album. You can find the clip
HERE.
Despite the upcoming At The Gates reunion tourdates, which
see Jonas and Anders Björler invade Japan, North American
and several prestigious European Summer festivals with their
former band, THE HAUNTED will be busy playing shows
as well!

TERROR - signs worldwide deal with Century Media
Records - Mar.
31, 2008 |
The tireless and tour-hungry
hardcore loyalists in LA's TERROR, spearheaded by the
endless enthusiasm of frontman Scott Vogel, have earned
quite a reputation since forming at the turn of the
millennium. Their melding of no-frills breakneck hardcore
and the fervor of new generation metal bridges the gap
between young and old, and it makes for one hell of a pit no
matter what city or stage the band leaves in ruin. Vogel has
been a key figure in the scene's survival, having given up a
normal home life to slug it out on the road despite broken
limbs, slipped discs and everything else that comes with
hosting a TERROR show.
Century Media Records has been a long-time admirer of Vogel
and the band, and the label is thrilled to now officially
welcome them to its increasingly diverse worldwide roster
and announce the summer release of TERROR's third
full-length, "The Damned, The Shamed" on May 26th. This
vicious slab of brutality was produced by the renowned Zeuss

perhaps not-so-bright future for humanity as we now know it.

CRYPTOPSY - Announces new album title; touring Europe
in May / June! - Mar. 14, 2008 |
Canadian masters of brutality
CRYPTOPSY are currently putting the finishing touches on
their sixth full-length studio album, "The Unspoken King".
The group recently announced the addition of new frontman
Matt McGachy (3 Mile Scream) and keyboards/samplist Maggie
Durand to their line-up. Vocalist Matt comments the work on
the new album as follows:
"The studio process has been very fulfilling. We have just
recently finished all of the vocal tracks and the samples
are in the process of being completed. The songs are just as
brutal as on the previous albums while being far more
concise. We have even brought in ex-Ion Dissonance vocalist
Gabriel McCaughry to add some vocals to a track called "Anoint
the Dead". Some of the other tracks on the album are called
"Worship Your Demons", "The Headsmen" and "Bemoan the Martyr"."Regretfully,
CRYPTOPSY have been forced to cancel their recently
announced tour of South America in March, after drummer Flo
Mounier broke his knee cap. Mounier had completed the drum
tracking process for the group's new album prior to the
incident, so it did not affect the recording. The tour of
South America is expected to be re-scheduled later in 2008.
European CRYPTOPSY fans will be delighted to hear that the
band will be touring Europe right on time of the release of
their highly anticipated new effort in May-June 2008,
supported by Decrepit Birth and Unmerciful.

FEAR MY THOUGHTS - currently recording new album! -
Mar. 14, 2008 |
Right now, German modern metal
outfit FEAR MY THOUGHTS is extremely busy finishing
the recordings for their highly anticipated follow-up to
last year's much lauded "Vulcanus" album. Here's the band's
latest update straight from the studio:
"We are currently working our asses off on the new record!
Drums are being recorded with the help of Daniel Bergstrand
(Meshuggah, In Flames, Behemoth, Soilwork) and the guys of
Arsen-studios who supplied us with some high-end gear. At
the moment, we're about to finish the vocal recordings, and
the result so far sounds simply amazing. Martin is doing a
great job and his vocals come across more variable than ever
before. While Martin is basically working on his own in
Karlsruhe, the others were busy recording guitars and bass
in Freiburg, Grenzach-Wyhlen and Weil am Rhein... actually
we spent most time travelling from one city to the other...arghhhh!
It is pretty hard to describe how the new songs sound. While
listening to the rough mixes, I'm trying to find possible
comparisons...sometimes it feels like Slayer, sometimes like
Pink Floyd. You can definitely hear a strong Progressive
Rock vibe in the vein of Porcupine Tree or Tool, on the
other side it's straight-forward Rock and Metal more than
ever before! The new record is definitely shaping up well,
but probably in a way you would not have expected!"
The new FEAR MY THOUGHTS album is expected to surface
in July 2008.

music, great female vocals, pounding metal, atmospheric
interludes, a progressive edge and stunning breakdowns: the
new MORNING album has it all! The female-fronted

'Moments of Truth'.
"This album has a very dark, but also personal touch… Both
textual and musical we found a way to write away our
feelings," says vocalist Saskia van Heugten. 'Moments of
Truth' stands for the unraveling of these emotions.
Besides the title MORNING announces that the album
will be released in Autumn 2008. At this moment the band is
looking for a suiting record label and starting some
